As a professor and former university administrator, I have a proven record of innovative, strategic, and data-informed approaches to address challenges and embrace growth, whether institutional or individual. I am an optimistic, energetic, vision-oriented leader with a passion for transforming lives and serving others. I love working with people to  identify their needs, chart paths to continuous improvement, and implement positive change. My expertise and experience include:

  • understanding and elevating Generation Z employees and students;

  • assessing workplace/academic operations to improve outcomes;

  • reviewing and providing constructive feedback on regional accreditation materials;

  • cultivating effective leadership in diverse and rapidly changing environments; and

  • supporting faculty and leaders to create a culture of quality teaching and student success.

I am an enthusiastic public speaker, responsive consultant, and engaged researcher and teacher who brings a sociological, equity-minded lens to identify challenges, strategize avenues for positive change, and energize others,.

Mission and Goals

I love working with people to support positive outcomes in workplace and academic environments. Whether through consulting, professional presentations, or coaching, my goals are to provide research-based information, useful insights, and strategic guidance to advance organizations and individuals through personalized, practical services.

Education and Career

My education includes a B.A. from the University of Alabama (Interdisciplinary), an M.A. from the University of Tennessee (Sociology), and a Ph.D. from the University of Michigan (Sociology). In addition to a 25+ year career as a professor of sociology, I served as an academic administrator for fourteen years (department chair, associate dean, and executive vice provost), overseeing initiatives related to enrollment management, student success, and faculty development.

I now present widely on a range of topics related to multigenerational changes and workforce management, understanding Generation Z, and higher education today.  I enjoy consulting with both business and higher education entities to address their questions, strategize solutions, and support a optimization of their work. As a coach, my passion is supporting people in identifying and reaching goals, whether professional (e.g., completing a degree, earning a promotion, becoming an administrator) or personal (e.g., identifying a career path, time management, and work-life balance).
